Introduction |
Different training needsThe design and delivery of an effective presentation is very important for some key staff. Often an organisation’s success depends on the business generated from sales and marketing presentations. For others, effective communication is vital for business success. Training participants typically hold positions that require them to speak or present to small or large groups. People develop their skills through training and experience, so training needs can vary. Training can include public speaking topics such as manner and method; use of humour; and voice and movement. Some speakers use pure speech, others uses aids and technology e.g. Microsoft PowerPoint. Delivery is one aspect. Design and preparation is another. Examples of topics include: Public speaking

Practical or theory based trainingNeeds can be skill or theory related. Some may wish to develop practical skills. They might want help in designing and/or delivering. Others may wish to receive feedback on their presentation style, speaking skills, use of aids, general audience handling skills and the like. Some may be looking for ideas and specific tips and techniques that will improve the quality and effectiveness of their presentations. Others may have the practical training skills. Their need is to increase their exposure to the theory behind planning and designing presentations. A variety of approaches can be used to design training that meets the diversity of needs described above. Firstly, a variety of methods can be used. Options include "class room" training and elearning/online training methods, or a combination, which is called blended learning. Course lengths can vary. The training can be intensive or spread over a period of time. What ever your need, you should expect to be able to make presentations that are interesting and effective. You should feel confident and positive. Each presentation should be a challenge but not a traumatic experience. |
